Chore Assistance Program- Volunteer

Help Seniors of Fairfield County Ohio with chores around the house to help them maintain their independence with homeownership. We see requests from Seniors for a variety of tasks around the home all throughout the year. Yard work- weeding flower beds, trimming bushes or trees, leave clean up. Snow removal, shoveling walkways or clearing driveways, spreading salt. washing the drapes and rehanging them. Installing a new mailbox, storm door or mini blinds. Taking the trash toter to the curb weekly. Changing lightbulbs or batteries in the smoke detectors. These are things most of us do on a regular basis but often take for granted the opportunity our youth and general health afford us. Our vulnerable seniors need a helping hand to take care of these chores to stay living affordably in their own homes. Can we count on you for help?

Commodity Box Delivery Volunteer

The Senior Hub/Meals on Wheels Fairfield County is committed to enabling independent living and improving the quality of life for older adults in our community. We are proud to offer the Commodity Box Delivery Program. Volunteers are scheduled the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 7am to 9am to help unload all the commodities off the truck. And 1pm to 3pm to distribute the commodity boxes to the clients. Volunteers are scheduled the 3rd Thursday anywhere from 9am to 3pm to distribute the commodity boxes to the clients.

Meal Delivery Driver - Volunteer

The Senior Hub/ Meals on Wheels of Fairfield County is committed to enabling independent living and improving the quality of life for older adults in our community. We are looking for volunteers that are interested in delivering a hot meal and drink to the elderly of Fairfield County, assigned to a particular route. The hours we deliver are Monday- Friday 9am to 2pm. You can pick the day you would like to volunteer. We can't service the elderly in our community without the wonderful help of volunteers. We look forward to serving our community with you!

Friendly Visitor

Meals on Wheels Fairfield County is committed to enabling independent living and improving the quality of life for older adults in our community. We are proud to offer the Friendly Visitor Program to alleviate loneliness and promote social interaction. Volunteers are matched with up to 2 clients who are experiencing loneliness. Volunteers may schedule visits on their own directly with a client between the hours of 8am and 8pm any day of the week. Visits are held for a minimum of 30 minutes but can last longer if both the volunteer and client are up for the extended visit. You can watch a tv program, play cards or a game, complete a puzzle, cook and enjoy a meal or treat, go for a walk and more. Under this program volunteers are not permitted to transport a client for any reason and are not permitted to do personal or licensed care. Volunteers are required to complete a short-written documentation of their visit.
