Mission Statement

The Mission of Global Health Charities is to save the lives of mothers and infants in communities in need around the world by providing training, education and materials essential to a clean and healthy birth.

Description

There are many factors involved, but one of the main causes of high neonatal and maternal mortality is infection. Global Health Charities (GHC) Clean Birth Kits (CBKs) contain clean birthing supplies for women and babies giving birth in under-resourced countries, many of whom deliver at home due to distance, poverty, and/or cultural norms. Clean Birth Kits ensure that both mother and baby have a clean birth, whether birthing alone at home, at home with a traditional birth attendant (TBA), or in a clinic with a midwife or TBA.

To date GHC has delivered over 21,000 Clean Birth Kits global. In one area of Nigeria where we have delivered a large number of CBKs the Maternal and Infant mortality rate has dropped below 100 deaths per 100,000 from over 1000 deaths per 100,000.
