Mission Statement

Our mission is to help neurodiverse individuals make the most of their unique minds while providing resources to cope with the challenges of their disabilities.

Description

Little House of Neurodiversity (LHND) is a new non-profit organization that offers support and advocates for people who have a diversity of learning styles and communication issues. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live life fully and independently without having to change essential aspects of who they are. Therefore, our goal is to provide special services so that these individuals can reach their full potential in every aspect of life.

When we refer to neurodiverse individuals, we’re referring to anyone with a brain that processes the world in its own unique and beautiful way. Typically, people in the neurodiverse community have a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD, or a variety of learning disabilities. It can also include those with cognitive delays and genetic, medical, or neurological conditions among others.

For these children and young adults, LHND provides respite care and social clubs to allow our neurodiverse clients to socialize, learn new skills and engage in experiences alongside other people with similar interests and disabilities. LHND is currently working with professors and medical students at Saint Louis University to implement the nationwide PEERS program (Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills) for socialization in the fall for LHND clients. We also set participants up with mentors through our mentorship program.
