General Overview
Effective July 1, 2013 the Department of Safety, Security, and Emergency Preparedness (SSEP) underwent a restructuring. Part of this move included the uniting of all campus safety personnel under the Associate Vice President of Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness. This move provided for a one college approach to the delivery of safety and security services and ensured standardization of these services. The Department of Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness has remained an integral part of Broward College's dedication to developing and maintaining a safe and secure environment in an effort to make your time at Broward College as safe and enjoyable as possible.
Broward College does not have a sworn campus police force, but employs non-sworn Campus Safety Officers. All Broward College, our Campus Safety Officers possess Class D licenses issued by the State of Florida and/or possess an active law enforcement certification. Their duty is to assist students, staff, faculty, and visitors; provide traffic control and direction; respond to incidents on Broward College property; assist in building evacuations, and identify individuals on college property to determine whether they have lawful business at Broward College.
