Description
Owl Bonnet Cultural Preservation - Holy Circle Sun Dance was established by our community to provide for the continuance and practice of Lakota spiritual, ceremonial, cultural, infrastructure and permaculture practices. Our ways are not a religion, they are our Spiritual way of life, of love, virtues and sacred ceremonies. Every year, in late July and early August, families of the Holy Circle SunDance Spiritual community travel---some great distances---to come together for two weeks to participate in our most sacred traditional Sundance ceremonies. Holy Circle SunDance ceremonies and cultural events are held on a 15-acre property located in South Dakota on the Sicangu Rosebud Lakota Sioux homelands (Reservation). Over the years, hundreds of people, of all skin-colors, backgrounds and tribal affiliations, come from far and long to participate. Our ongoing projects are to renovate our old cook shack, buy equipment and supplies needed to maintain and beautify the grounds. Over the last few years, we have invested in a few solar panels. We have launched a website and we are working on social media campaigns. Our Lakota cultural gatherings and ceremonies are led by Sundance Chief Keith Horse Looking Sr. and supported by those who follow his leadership and direction. Respectfully, Mitákuye Oyásiŋ, (All my relations) On behalf of Chief Keith Horse Looking by Volunteers & Supporters
