Mission Statement
VENtanas started as a project to improve the lives of children in Venezuela. Since its start, VENtanas have gone beyond the borders to provide the impoverished with help for today and hope for tomorrow through food, water, education, health services, sports and music. Small changes create big impact. Volunteers carry out 99% of the humanitarian work of Ventanas. What makes us different is we don’t just send what is given; we are accountable for its distribution.
Description
VENtanas for the Children of Venezuela was created in 2017 in Massachusetts by a small dedicated group of Venezuelan volunteers to give back in reaction to the deteriorating condition of their home country. The economy of Venezuela has collapsed, increasing severe poverty and suffering, especially among the country’s children. VENtanas was incorporated as a 501(C) 3 nonprofit organization in Massachusetts and could be considered a non-governmental organization (NGO). Since 2017, multiple programs have been implemented, including metal decontamination in children living in oil refinery communities, medical treatments to children with cancer and several projects to benefit a community of Venezuelan refugee children in the border with Colombia.
