THE PROTEGO FOUNDATION

Description

The Protego Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that fights to end the abuse of animals in the real world by using parallels from the Wizarding World and Harry Potter. We are a group of fandom activists empowering all persons to get active and help animals since 2015 through donating to animal rights organizations and sanctuaries, signing change-making petitions and pledges, discussing animal rights issues on our Discord community, and participating in our educational podcast and bookclub. Our goal is to create a wizarding fandom that is more considerate of the rights, feelings, and treatment of all creatures regardless of species, size, or magical ability. Animals like cats, dogs, pigs, cows, and snakes are no different than the magical Pygmy Puffs, Nifflers, and House-Elves we have grown to love so dearly. Just as Hermione fought the enslavement of House-Elves, we fight for creatures in the muggle world to be able to live a life free of abuse and exploitation.
