Hospice Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to visit our patients. Gentiva Hospice services the counties of Clay, Platte, Clinton, Buchanan, Andrew, DeKalb, Ray, Caldwell. Every attempt is made to match a volunteer with a patient with similar interests and requires minimal driving time. Make gifts for patients Run errands or do light housekeeping Bake or gardening with patients Share stories So many other possibilities. Onboarding Requirements Volunteer interviews can be conducted virtually or in person. You will be able to meet your volunteer coordinator during your onboarding process. Age requirement may apply. Onboarding Requirements: -Interview with a volunteer coordinator (virtual or in person) -Virtual volunteer training (approximately 12 hours of self-guided volunteer training) -TB skin test or blood draw (scheduled and paid for by Gentiva Hospice) -Background check (paid for by Gentiva Hospice) -Two references -Driver's License -Auto Insurance -Additional paperwork (i.e. volunteer agreement, etc.) -Virtual volunteer training (approximately 12 hours of self-guided volunteer training) -Job-specific training as needed

Compassionate Phone calls to Hospice patients

Weekly Compassion phone calls to hospice patients & their caregivers to check on their medical supplies needs and conducting admission survey questions. Good listening, communication and writing skills necessary. Phone calls can be made in your home or Gentiva Hospice office branch (Zona Rosa). Ability to maintain HIPPA is a must for confidentiality. (5-10 phone calls a week). Onboarding Requirements Most of the volunteer orientation is through a self-paced format. Volunteer interviews can be conducted virtually or in person. You will be able to meet your volunteer coordinator during your onboarding process.
