Description

As a multidisciplinary arts organization we provide cultural experiences such as visual art exhibits, dance classes, and poetry readings, to our rich multiethnic region through a combination of organizational planning, curation, and community collaboration. In the last 3 years, we have hosted 38 art exhibitions with work by 148 local and regional artists from emerging to well-established, award-winning We hosted 13 different styles of dance classes weekly, 21 workshops exploring everything from oil painting, flower arranging, beaded jewelry, and fantasy inspired crafts. Each year we import exhibitions and entertainment from other arts organizations such as the theSami American Cultural Center in Duluth. We offer mentorship to individuals and groups whose mission intersects with ours. Our programming often focuses on underrepresented demographics such as our NEA funded project in which we hosted an author talk with Joy Harjo, America's first Native American Poet Laureate. In conjunction with this we presented activities focused on Native American poetry, art, dance, music and creative writing over a seven-month period. The art exhibition curated by Laura Youngbird as part of this traveled to 4 public libraries in the area.
