Mission Statement

You can make a difference when you volunteer or donate at VA Pacific Islands Healthcare System. Learn how your support helps us serve our Veterans. VA Pacific Islands Healthcare System depends on the goodwill of donors and volunteers who want to give something back to America's heroes. Volunteers provide much-needed help throughout the health care system and make patients' experiences more enjoyable. Many different volunteer opportunities are available, and each volunteer's talents are closely matched with one of our assignments. Volunteers can choose to serve at the Spark Matsunaga VA Medical Center or Community Living Center.

Each year community volunteers give selflessly of their time and resources in service to America’s Veterans. It is impossible to calculate the amount of caring and sharing that these volunteers provide to Veteran patients. VA volunteers are a priceless asset to the Nation’s Veterans and to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

As a VA volunteer, you’ll support Veterans in your area, meet interesting people, and gain valuable experience in a health care setting. You’ll also enjoy benefits like:

  • Free annual flu shot and tuberculosis test
  • Educational opportunities, like CPR training
  • Free parking, and canteen meals during shifts of 4 hours or more
  • Job search opportunities
  • Job skills development

Please join the CDCE family and make a difference in the lives of America’s heroes.

Assist Veteran patients by augmenting staff with end of life care programs, foster care, community-based volunteer programs, hospital wards, nursing homes, and Veteran outreach centers.
