Mission Statement

Mission: Our mission is to empower and uplift youth and young adults to live their lives and be successful, with a special focus on youth with current or past involvement in the child welfare, homeless, and juvenile justice systems, and those at risk of entering those systems. Values: Integrity, respect, social justice, flexibility

Description

Major Activities: We believe that when youth with child welfare involvement have a network of support that is flexible and community based, they will be more likely to achieve their dreams. Each youth participates in a needs assessment and is then paired with a mental health therapist and educational specialist who assist them in working towards their goals. Inspiring Futures is built from the expertise of youth who have experienced the child welfare system and youth can enroll even if they do not currently have an open ACS case, and even if their case closed prior to turning 18. Inspiring Futures takes a holistic approach, while focusing on these key areas, as appropriate:

Counseling for College Readiness: Inspiring Futures provides individual mobile college readiness services tailored to the student’s needs. Individual visits occur in their homes and communities.

Individualized Mental Health Services: The sessions are conducted with an empowerment focus and align with the seven core issues in adoption and permanency. The sessions are flexible in that they are conducted in a time and place convenient for the youth and centered on their goals.

Training for Caregivers and Program Personnel: Inspiring Futures facilitates training for caregivers and program personnel to increase college-going culture, resiliency, and trauma informed care in their environments.
