Mission Statement
The Expressive Therapies Summit, a 501c3 nonprofit, offers continuing education for clinicians in all mental health disciplines, as well as educators, students, and community-based professionals. These hands-on trainings emphasize best practices featuring the arts therapies. All are taught by highly skilled professionals, including pioneers in various fields. In this way, we seek to extend the healing power of the arts to people of all ages and abilities throughout the world.
Description
Stronger Together has been our guiding principle in creating the Expressive Therapies Summit. After a half century of working in parallel process, it's time for us to gather and learn from each other. It's time to work collaboratively for the success of all the arts therapies. Together, we are stronger.
Creative and Expressive. We refer to ourselves variously: Creative Arts Therapists, Arts Psychotherapists, Expressive Therapists. We are all of these, and more. Not only do we help others, we do so creatively, using one or more of the fine and performing arts. Not limiting ourselves to a single muse or treatment model, we enable others to express their innermost selves, regardless of age, language, or ability.
Since 2010, over 10,000 social workers, counselors, arts therapists, and other helping professionals from over 70 different countries have participated in the Expressive Therapies Summits.
