Description

Our immediate goals include developing affordable housing for the blind and visually impaired in our community. A community-based approach to economic mobility is emphasized. As we all know, the current environment has highlighted the vital importance of safe, decent housing to an individual's overall well-being, including health, academic achievement, and employment prospects in the future. Many people, however, are unable to afford affordable housing while others face the possibility of being evicted, are facing foreclosure, or transitioning to homelessness. Imagine having to face all these challenges in the dark. Being able to see your way through these challenges is already difficult, as a result, we aim to develop preserve or increase access to a variety of affordable housing options and other essential support services for persons with disabilities.

The Hughley Housing Initiative

Housing and Supportive Services for individuals who are Blind, visually impaired, elderly, and/or disabled.

Project Reach

Outreach for incarcerated individuals who are blind and/or disabled.

The Empathy Project

Empathy can mean a lot of different things. Because of this, it is important to define it. Our Foundation will focus on teaching our youth and young adults about treating people who have different challenges than their own with kindness, respect, and most importantly, to have empathy for those differences.
