Mission Statement

Our vision is to create a world where under-resourced single mothers receive help, education, tools and the inspiration they need to improve their overall well-being, get better sleep, and live to their fullest potential, in order to healthfully support themselves and their children. As a natural result of supporting under-resourced single mothers, our impact will also aid in reducing and preventing physical and mental health challenges as well as domestic violence.

Description

The International Parenting & Health Institute (IPHI) for Single Mothers is a nonprofit organization committed to improving the quality of health and life of parents and their children, specifically single under-resourced mothers both locally and internationally. We offer access to educational resources, career opportunities, and health support designed to inform, promote, connect, and strengthen individual nonprofits and the people they serve.

It was one courageous decision that completely changed our founder, Mar De Carlo’s life on August 7 2009.

After arriving in Northern California, as a newly single first time mom, having left an emotionally abusive relationship and with no friends or family close by, she made the decision to turn down a high profile client so she could be there for her daughter.

The decision she made led her to dig deep and find a way to provide for herself and her daughter without compromising her time away from her during such a challenging time.

While she was tempted to panic, having a professional background in yoga and vipassana meditation, Mar turned to meditation and began meditating for long periods through out each day for three days. On the third day, she received an answer with a clear vision of service and contribution to parents, children and professionals who work with them which led her to start the International Parenting & Health Institute.
