RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with the communications committee to develop and implement communication plans aligned with the organization's objectives. Contribute creative ideas and insights to enhance marketing campaigns and initiatives. Assist in the creation and distribution of marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, newsletters, and social media content. Support social media management by creating and scheduling posts on various platforms. Conduct research to identify target audiences, trends, and opportunities for expanding our reach. Assist in monitoring and analyzing marketing efforts to evaluate their effectiveness. Attend committee meetings, actively participate in discussions, and contribute to decision-making processes. Collaborate with other committee members and departments to ensure consistent messaging and branding. Stay informed about marketing trends and best practices in the non-profit sector. Additional duties as needed. Required Qualifications: 3+ years of marketing, communication, advertising or related experience. A passion for the mission and values of our non-profit organization. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with digital marketing platforms and social media channels. Ability to work collaboratively in a virtual team environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Flexibility and willingness to contribute time outside of regular meetings when required. TECH COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION: The Technology Committee is an integral part of Defense of Democracy dedicated to leveraging technology to support our mission and enhance our marketing efforts. As a member of the committee, you will work alongside a team of passionate individuals committed to using technology to drive the organization's growth and impact. This position focuses on supporting the marketing initiatives of the organization through various digital platforms. RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with the Technology Committee Chair and other committee members to develop and execute technology strategies using various digital platforms. Assisting with managing and maintain Mailchimp, Roundcube email system, and wordpress website. Assist the marketing committee in providing regular reports on key marketing metrics, including website traffic, social media engagement, email campaign performance, and other relevant KPIs. Collaborate with other committees, such as the Marketing Committee to align marketing efforts and ensure a consistent brand presence across all platforms. Attend committee meetings and actively participate in discussions, sharing insights, ideas, and best practices related to marketing and technology. Chapter Chair : Time commitment: 2+ hours per week Qualifications for Chapter Chair: An understanding of Defense of Democracy’s mission statement and statement of beliefs. An understanding and a commitment to bipartisanship. Proficient with social media platforms Job Description Moderates your state/county Defense of Democracy Chapter private facebook page. Cooardinates DofD chapter Recruits additional chapter volunteers Oversee volunteer activities within chapter (job descriptions below) CoChair: stays in direct contact with the affiliate leaders in their area (students/vets/faith leaders defending democracy). Steps in when Chapter chair is unavailable. RESEARCHER : Good at spreadsheets!! Establish at least one researcher to create a google drive database for the state that volunteers can access with school board, local & state organizations, legislators, and government bodies.several other contributors can take on different lists. This is a great role for someone who wishes to remain anonymous. SPEAKER : Establish a speaker in each region of the state who is comfortable speaking at board meetings,etc. Make sure they are aware of the sample speeches in this folder. Attend media training breakout session, and familiarize yourself with DofD media guide. Remember we are first and foremost advocates for and supporters of inclusive public education and city councils who represent ALL of their constituents, regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation,or religious beliefs. SUPPORTER : Shows up for support when public speakers speak.Wears Defense of Democracy t shirt, and shows solidarity. It is SO much easier to get up and speak at unfriendly meetings when you’re with supportive Defenders of Democracy. OTHER ROLES: Gatekeepers : specific to state Facebook groups. 4 or so gatekeepers per facebook page. They have admin rights LEGAL EXPERT : State specific. Each state should have at least one attorney or legal expert, not for representation, but in case clarification is needed on legal issues that may arise. COALITION: Local organizations whose focus aligns with Defense of Democracy’s Statement of Beliefs and Mission. Coalition members get featured on the Defense of Democracy Website with a link to their website for national amplification. Coalition meets 1x a month (info on meetings is under the "Get Involved">"Coalition" tab on main Defense of Democracy Website) The only purpose of the coalition meeting is to ascertain how we can help each other.

FINANCE COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION: The Finance Committee oversees financial planning, financial recordkeeping, and financial reporting. It drafts fiscal policies, anticipates financial problems, and ensures assets are protected. RESPONSIBILITIES: During the strategic planning process, this committee will analyze the external and internal environment that determines the future course for DofD. The Finance Committee reviews and approves the budget before it goes to the full board for approval. During the budgeting process, it works closely with the DofD treasurer to ensure that the budgeting process is carried out efficiently, that key elements of the strategic plan are addressed, and that the financial impacts of decisions are appropriately reflected in each period’s budget numbers. The Finance Committee ensures that all federal, state, and local reporting that is required on behalf of DofD takes place in accordance with generally accepted principles. The Finance Committee develops fiscal policies to serve as guidelines - and protection - for board and staff as they address all the numerous complicated and routine questions relating to the organization’s financial management. Until DofD can hire financial staff, the Finance Committee is responsible for overseeing expenses, issuing payments and checks, and translating financial data for presentation to the Board and CEO into terms that can be understood by those less familiar with financial jargon.
