Mission Statement

The vision of Kentuckians for the Arts is to advance a creative commonwealth. The mission of Kentuckians for the Arts is to promote the value of the arts and arts education for all throughout Kentucky.

Description

Kentuckians for the Arts (KFTA) works to advance the arts and arts education in Kentucky by raising awareness of the value of the arts, advocating for arts funding and art-supportive public policy, and showcasing the achievements of Kentucky artists and arts organizations.

  • We inform elected officials and the public about the value of the arts.
  • We advocate for arts funding and arts-supportive legislation.
  • We provide arts advocacy trainings, webinars, and online resources and information.
  • We research, compile, and share data about the impact of Kentucky's creative sector.
  • We showcase the achievements of Kentucky artists and arts organizations.
  • We collaborate with and connect arts organizations, artists, and arts supporters across the Commonwealth.
  • We foster and encourage young artists through our Youth Arts Council.
  • We speak up for the arts in Kentucky! Because the arts matter.
The organization was started in 2016 as a Facebook group, and in 2020 was organized as an active organization led by a 16 member volunteer board. KFTA is an active member of Americans for the Arts, the national Cultural Advocacy Group, the South Arts Regional Advocacy collective, and the Kentucky Nonprofit Network and its Advocacy Alliance.
