Mission Statement

We pride ourselves in being a 'True Sanctuary' - meaning we are not open to the public and we have a strict no-hands-on policy when it comes to our animals. We have been awarded Best Non-Profit Wildlife Sanctuary 2023 - Western Cape, by AI Global Media Ltd from the UK. We rely on volunteers to keep our sanctuary up and running as we don't get any funding from the government. After covid, we are rebuilding our sanctuary and we aim on rescuing more animals in the up coming year.

Description

Ubuntu Wildlife Sanctuary is a non-profit company (NPC no.: 2016/147448/08) situated in-between Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape, Republic of South Africa. We have 15 lions and 2 tigers that we have rescued from all around the world including South Africa. We have provided our predators with a safe haven, free from poaching and exploitation, where they can prosper for the rest of their lives. At Ubuntu, we also support our community, such as small schools, a sea bird sanctuary(SAPREC), and Western Cape Butterfly Sanctuary- by firstly allowing them onto our platform to get a wider audience and secondly, we try to assist financially where we can. We are not open to the public as we don’t want to retraumatize our animals, but we offer volunteering programs. In this way, we can spread the importance of conservation and preservation by working alongside our team and making a difference in our animals' lives, in a humane and enjoyable way.
