Description

Neighbors Network of Lee County is the offspring of a national movement, the Village to Village Network. Community volunteers help each other live life independently in their own homes. Neighbors will help other neighbors throughout a given geographic area within driving distance. We are in START-UP phase and are searching for volunteers to help us with the gift of skills such as programming, fundraising, web technology, volunteer management and marketing so we have a strong foundation from the beginning. We are starting with creating a pilot village, also called neighbors network, in the general area of the Six Mile Cypress Expressway, with plans to develop villages across all of Lee County. We are an all volunteer, grassroots nonprofit organization. We are dedicated to supporting older adults by helping with many of the little things than can become big things if there is no one to help when needed, such as helping run errands, transportation to doctors appointments, help with technology, making friendly visits, light outdoor work and other tasks that emerge as we learn more about volunteer interests and needs of community members. Social contacts and building a social network is the foundation of a village.
