Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver more than food; they’re the deliverers of hope. They’re just like you, concerned about our senior neighbors for whom a daily meal would otherwise be impossible without the help of their "other family" - their volunteers. All it takes is two hours a week at lunchtime, delivering to a handful of homebound folks from a site in your neighborhood, with flexibility. Love older adults and speak Spanish? If you're 60 or older and speak conversational Spanish, why not join a senior diner for companionship at our Seminole cafe a weekday or two for lunch, with lunch on us? Neighborly provides Pinellas County seniors with nutritious lunch and activities five days a week. Choose your day or days; female companion requested! *We welcome those 59 and younger (meal available for a small if, if you wish to have ours). Just complete our online volunteer application and choose the June 25th at 1pm orientation (please note at the end of the application you'd like to be a companion at the Seminole cafe). After orientation, we'll place you at the site where the staff will pair you with the client and make arrangements for your meal (voluntary contributions welcome but not required). Seniors all across Pinellas County have no way to get to their pharmacy or medical appointments which leads to poor health outcomes and increased isolation. If you're finding yourself bored in retirement, or, if you just have a passion for helping others, this might be a perfect fit! In just two to four hours per week, you can choose the day(s), hours and locations to drive seniors to and/or from medical appointments and pharmacies. No lifting or wheelchairs! With your cheerful demeanor, vehicle, and clean driving record and background, together we’ll prepare you for this rewarding position! We’ve all seen the toll loneliness takes. Then imagine being visually and hearing impaired, with dementia. Help bring ease and comfort to one of Neighborly Senior Care’s clients conveniently at our adult day care center on 54 th Avenue South in St Petersburg. Visits can be once a week on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for a couple late morning or early afternoon hours. This client enjoys listening to music, being read to, and perhaps even holding your warm hand. Female volunteers, please. Did you know music can evoke memories otherwise forgotten in memory-challenged seniors? Neighborly provides the therapeutic benefit of music to clients served at three Adult Day Centers, and for higher-functioning seniors at eight dining cafes. Entertainers can include musicians (non-religious music only), singers, clowns, or magicians. Choose the location (s) convenient for you, weekdays from late morning to noon or 1-2pm.
