Mission Statement

Camp Quality provides year-round programs, experiences, and companionship at no cost to children with cancer and their families. Camp Quality promotes hope and inspiration while helping children foster life skills and develop their full potential.

Description

Camp Quality was founded in 1983 by Australian pediatric oncologist Vera Entwistle who believed, "No one can do anything about the quantity of one's life, but all of us can do something about the quality." In 1986, Camp Quality USA incorporated and hosted its first summer camp in Northwest Missouri. Today, Camp Quality Kansas (CQ Kansas) is one of 17 chapters across 14 states that provide year-round activities to support families with children diagnosed with cancer.

CQ Kansas was established in 2007 to serve Kansas families impacted by childhood cancer. CQ Kansas is led by a passionate team of volunteers who work together to facilitate a free week-long residential summer camp experience for kids with cancer and their siblings. Free weekend family camps and monthly activities are also provided to families living in (and traveling to) the Wichita-Metro Area. Since its inception, CQ Kansas has served over 500 families impacted by childhood cancer.

Camp Quality is recognized as a Gold Ribbon Camp by the Children's Oncology Camping Association. This accreditation is granted to camps that implement stringent standards, including rigorous volunteer and staff screening and training processes and medical practices, and offer psychological support to patients and family members.
