Your leadership skills can help community members claim larger Tax Refunds Southern Nevada Tax Assistance (SNVTA) provides free personal income tax counseling and tax preparation to middle- and low-income taxpayers, with special attention to those age 60 and older. Site Coordinators provide 1st line leadership implementing IRS VITA/TCE programs and policies with a team of volunteers at assigned Site(s). The Site Coordinator (SC) manages volunteers to deliver program services to Taxpayers, while complying with IRS Quality Site Requirements at one or more Sites. SCs are the focal point for working with Site providers, managing the SNVTA presence at assigned Sites, ensuring the smooth flow of Taxpayers through the intake and preparation process, and resolving issues that may arise while providing services or after filing returns. SNVTA program management team provides Training for volunteers plus assistance with Technology and Administration to support the Site Coordinator. Familiarity with income tax law and processes is very helpful but not required, Site Coordinators may choose, but are not expected to prepare taxes. The SC need not be an IRS-certified Counselor unless they choose to also volunteer in a Counselor role preparing taxes.

Your tax preparation skills can help others in your community claim larger Tax Refunds! We provide the training for you to become an IRS-certified tax preparer. We work through the IRS' Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program, but also help those with low to medium income. A TCE volunteer stated this about her volunteer experience, "TCE helped me acquire more knowledge on my own tax benefits. I really love it because you are learning and helping the community at the same time. It’s the best feeling." One TCE Site Coordinator had this to say about her TCE site, "I feel comfortable saying all taxpayers using our services were extremely grateful for the patience, expertise and timeliness of volunteers preparing the tax return. We have many repeat 'customers’ from year to year and - even during the down months - we are greeted throughout the community with a warm hello and 'see you at tax time.’ This speaks highly for the good work these gifted volunteers perform."

As a Greeter, You greet everyone visiting the site to create a pleasant atmosphere. You screen taxpayers to determine the type of assistance they need and confirm they have the necessary documents to complete their tax returns. Tax law certification is not required for this position. The VITA and TCE programs offer free tax help to people with low-to-moderate income, senior citizens, persons with disability, those who have limited English proficiency and others who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. In the majority of the free tax help sites, taxpayers can get one-on-one help from IRS-certified volunteers who prepare their taxes for them. Volunteers are needed in all these sites during the tax filing season.

VITA/TCE sites are led by local volunteers and focus on supporting your neighbors with a free personalized tax assistance experience that is enriching and fulfilling not only for them but for you. Volunteers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to get involved. All you need to bring is your good vibes. We will provide the training you need to fulfill one of these roles. Are you a people person? Be a client facilitator. You will greet taxpayers, help organize their paperwork and manage the overall flow of service. Are you an organized leader? Be a site coordinator who can make sure everything runs smoothly, track volunteer assignments and site activities, and maintain quality control. Are you interested in training others? We need instructors who can help train our volunteers. Do you do your own taxes - or wish you could? Become a tax preparer and we will train you to prepare taxes. Are you a geek? Be a technology coordinator. You will manage computer equipment, ensure taxpayer data is secured and provide technical assistance to volunteers at multiple sites. Do you love marketing? Be a communications coordinator. You will promote SNVTA services and recruit volunteers in your community. Do you speak a second language? We need you. We are a group of IRS-certified volunteers who wish to give back to their community by helping low to middle income taxpayers take advantage of all the tax credits they are entitled to. We have a special focus on senior taxpayers who need assistance navigating their annual federal income tax reporting.

We are a partner with the IRS participating in their Volunteer Income Tax Assistance / Tax Counseling for the Elderly (VITA/TCE) program.

VITA/TCE sites offer free tax help to people who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns, including:

Seniors (60 and over)
People who generally make $60,000 or less
Persons with disabilities; and
Limited English-speaking taxpayers

My spouse was persuaded to invest in a cryptocurrency that promised a massive profit in a matter of weeks about two months ago after seeing it on Facebook. He proceeded to invest roughly $231,200 in Bitcoin. It became clear that he had been scammed after waiting more than a month and nothing changed. He came up to me and gave me all the details.
