Mission Statement

Peaceful Pastures Donkey Rescue strives to eliminate cruelty to donkeys by rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming those who are neglected, abused and/or unwanted. We also integrate educating others on the injustices inflicted on donkeys worldwide into all our events and activities.

Description

Peaceful Pastures Donkey Rescue was founded in 2021 after the founder witnessed the abuse and neglect donkeys endure at auctions and kill pens. Since then, we dedicated our lives to rescuing and helping these donkeys. We currently have over 250 donkeys and a few horses on-site.

Our goals and strategic plans are created around the acronym SAFER.
Share the emotional and intellectual benefits of spending time with donkeys by hosting workshops and tours.
Adopt out donkeys and horses to carefully vetted homes.
Fundraise to make PPDR self-sustaining with at least 50% of operational costs provided by funds outside of donations.
Educate during events and other public appearances about donkeys, the donkey trade and global donkey crisis, why we rescue, what the animals experience once at the rescue, and how we train the animals.
Rehabilitate equines physically and emotionally.

We recently started a Volunteer Program and are enrolled in the Presidential Volunteer Service Award program. We value our volunteers tremendously and are dedicated to making it a fun experience that is tailored to the abilities and desires of the volunteer. Experience with equines is not necessary and we have needs that range from cleaning, grooming, feeding, and public events to things that can be done online such as webpage maintenance, grant writing, volunteer program, fundraising, marketing, etc.
