Mission Statement

To turn disadvantaged and minority urban areas into thriving communities via entrepreneurship, education, employment, financial literacy and business development. Fostering a network of self sufficient entrepreneurs, we provide everything needed to start, grow and sustain businesses. In urban communities we recognize that opportunities are often limited based on experience and exposure. Our mission is to allow people, inclusive of youth, exposure to trades, college, and entrepreneurship, as each play an important role and each is needed for a community to thrive.

Description

Five Back launched July 2017 in South Phoenix. Our purpose then was solely to to raise funds for minority businesses to combat the negative stereotypes and to level the competitive entrepreneurship field via education, funding and by providing the tools and resources to start, grow and sustain businesses. Our funding solely derived from our resale boutique that operated only on weekends, Five Back Thrifty Boutique. We fixated on the hashtag #GetThrifted. #GetThrifted became more than a hashtag, it is a mantra, a way to provide for each other, by leveraging each other and turning rags into riches. We've partner with many other nonprofits organizations to fulfill our goals over the years. As of November 2021, we acquired IRS approval receiving our 501c3 status allowing to make a greater impact on the communities we serve.
