Mission Statement

The Public Works Department plays a vital role in providing a myriad of City services to promote quality of life for the City of Riverside. Our goal is to implement efficient and cost effective services to preserve and enhance our City streets, bike paths, and sanitary sewer system as well as promote sustainable programs to preserve our environment with clean storm drains, air quality programs and a solid waste collection system that successfully diverts 67.4% of citywide trash from landfills to recycling programs.

Description

The City of Riverside Public Works Department is devoted to a clean and green city. We are working toward lowering climate super pollutants and improving our parks and recreation. Currently, we have implemented SB 1383 generator requirements for city generators classified under Tier 1 and Tier 2. The City Council recently approved the spending plan for money received from the American Rescue Plan Act. The city plans to make $13 million worth of Parks and Recreation improvements with another $4 million in new trash trucks to replace aging fleets.

Our goal with these new programs in place is to educate our community. We would like to educate our community on how important the implementation of SB 1383 is in reducing and lowering climate super pollutants and including them in the process. We feel that the community is a vital part to making our city successful in all our ventures.
