Mission Statement

BEST of Texas Robotics (BTR), is a robotics program whose mission is prepare students to be STEM minded and workforce ready through innovative robotics programs and competitions. BTR strives to positively impact education systems across Texas, by engaging, exciting, and inspiring students to pursue post-secondary academics and/or careers in engineering, science, and technology through participation in a sports- like science- and engineering-based robotics program which introduces and reinforces STEM mindsets and workforce readiness skills.

Description

Robotics has emerged as one of the most effective ways to teach STEM, encompassing all the aspects of STEM and providing students with a tangible result of the scientific, engineering, and mathematical and computer science and computational factors they have employed. BTR’s strength is that it includes the marketing and business aspects, giving students an additional real-world industry experience. BTR anticipates outcomes that include: students increased interest in STEM majors and STEM careers; a broadening of student knowledge base about the myriad opportunities that exist in engineering, technology and computer science; awareness of opportunities for careers with technical school or two year program degrees to careers that require advanced degrees; increased confidence and self-esteem; appreciation for the diversity of their fellow students in cultural background, personal experience and talents; understanding of the many facets of business functions required for success, and understanding of how failure fuels innovation and the importance of failure for ultimate success.
