Mission Statement
The mission of Nepali American Center (NAC) is to build a community/cultural center in Chicagoland that provides a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment to celebrate and embrace cultural diversity for community members of all backgrounds. The center will be a platform for spiritual activities akin to Nepali traditions and provide support and opportunities for health and human services, education, and community building through a diverse range of programs, events, and activities. The center encourages mutual understanding and respect among its members and fosters cooperation with members from other communities, irrespective of their age, identities, race, ethnicity, and religious beliefs.
Description
In support of its mission, here are some of the activities, NAC has been involved with on an on-going basis, including but not limited to:
- Conducted an uninterrupted monthly spiritual program for the last 15 years which has helped bridge the gap and bring communities together.
- Distributed computers and winter clothing to Bhutanese refugees as part of Refugee settlement program which helped Bhutanese refugees get settled in this new country, they call it home.
- NAC has held Quarterly blood drive events since 2012 partnering with Blood Donors of America and other local organizations involving youth volunteers thereby uplifting their leader-ship skills.
- During its 15 years of history, it has successfully organized 3 Nepali Mela (2009, 2010 and 2019), and assisted Nepal in natural disasters such as Earthquakes, floods and landslides.
In addition to the efforts above, Nepali American Center also aims to preserve and promote Nepali culture. They organize cultural events, language classes, and art workshops to help Nepali Americans connect with their heritage and pass it on to future generations.
In order to support our mission, NAC has taken a humungous task of organizing Nepal Fest this year in Summer and require lot of volunteers and support to make this event successful, and we are looking for any kind of help from communities at large. Please visit our website for more details.
