Mission Statement
KY-SEF’s mission is to expand educational opportunities for all middle and high school students, and to enhance the visibility and importance of science and engineering in Kentucky by providing an annual statewide competition that supports, encourages, and recognizes student excellence in science and engineering research
Description
KY-SEF is a non-profit, volunteer-run, organization that hosts the pinnacle event in Kentucky for students advancing to the state-level competition from regional fairs across the Commonwealth. KY-SEF is affiliated with the International Science & Engineering Fair and the Society for Science and the state fair's top winners attend the Regeneron(r) International Science and Engineering Fair(r) (Regeneron ISEF), the world’s largest international pre-college science competition, which annually provides a forum for more than 1,600 high school students from over 70 countries, regions, and territories to showcase their independent research and compete for more than $4 million in awards. The fair boasts 22 categories for middle school and high school students including categories related to the environment, engineering, health, social science, medicine, plants and agriculture, software, robotics, material science, mathematics, and more.
