Mission Statement
We aim to seek equity for the Latino community by implementing our Latino equity 5-point plan.
Description
Latinos account for about 48% plus of the County of Los Angeles population, making them the county's largest immigrant group. Our initiative applauds the work of the Immigrants Are LA initiative and shares similar concerns regarding the county's shortcomings and its lack of addressing the needs of our immigrant community. The County must continue to work in partnership with the immigrant community, and as a Latino initiative, we are committed to engaging our membership in those efforts.
As a result of the need to fill this leadership gap and develop more robust advocacy for Latino and immigrant communities, a group of cross-sectional Latino leaders came together to form the LALEADI. Founded in August 2021, the organization has mobilized around creating a Latino Equity Five-Point Plan, which has successfully incorporated into a pledge campaign for the upcoming election cycle.
