Los Angeles is facing an epidemic of homelessness. Despite billions of dollars approved by taxpayers to address the crisis over the last several years, more people are living outside. Government has proven incapable of addressing the epidemic. Existing nonprofits, despite best intentions, have been too constrained to have the broad impact necessary to address the issue at scale.

Better Angels is the upshot of a commitment to address homelessness in LA by any means necessary. The organization was established by Adam Miller, a social entrepreneur who founded and served as CEO for two decades of Cornerstone OnDemand: a multi-billion-dollar cloud computing company. Adam also co-founded and currently serves as chairman of 1P.org: a new social enterprise focused on addressing the planet’s most intractable issues, including gun violence and homelessness.

1P.org extensively researches what has and has not worked by governments and nonprofits in the past to address these challenges and then applies a mix of philanthropy, advocacy, impact investing, technology and operational initiatives to enable real social impact. Better Angels is an initiative of 1P.org, as well as its own 501c3.
