Mission Statement

JBBBSLA assists youth in achieving their full potential through innovative, impactful programs -- Youth Mentoring, Camp Bob Waldorf, College Access + Success, and Teen Talk App.

Description

Founded in 1915, JBBBSLA enriches the lives of children through its meaningful programs: Youth Mentoring, Camp Bob Waldorf, College Access + Success, and Teen Talk App. JBBBSLA’s mission is to assist youth in achieving their full potential by providing impactful programs that facilitate lasting relationships and support positive youth development. Each year JBBBSLA serves more than 1,200 youth from a variety of backgrounds, races, religions, and socio-economic status.

Not only can a mentor have a profound impact on a child’s growth and success, but the effect on mentors themselves can also be significant. Our volunteers join a valued community, meet interesting new people, and describe experiencing joy and pride in their mentoring role. Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles has been matching Jewish mentors ("Bigs"), ages 21 and up, with Jewish mentees ("Littles"), ages 6-17, for over 100 years. Many of our Big/Little matches report that their relationships with one another have been deeply impactful, and even life-changing for them both. Whether a match lasts a year or a lifetime, mentoring makes a Big difference.
