Description

GSSO is here to share the beauty of the acoustic guitar, with a particular interest in classical guitar and other genres. This includes hosting monthly music gatherings and sponsoring performances by visiting and local artists. We are interested in and enjoy the variety of music played on the classical guitar, such as flamenco, jazz, Latin, finger-style, ragtime, and original compositions. The Society also welcomes related stringed instruments like the steel string guitar, lute, vihuela, and oud. We seek to support established professional and emerging guitar players, sometimes partnering with other music organizations. There are many wonderful artists who play the classical guitar in a variety of styles, and our goal is to give the community many opportunities to hear this beautiful, intimate instrument.
