Mission Statement
Fill a Stocking, Fill a Heart fills and distributes handmade Christmas Stockings to agencies in Clackamas County and their clients, young and old. Volunteers working with the community, seek to brighten the holiday season by filling stockings with personal necessities and age-appropriate gifts for those less fortunate. 100% of all donated items and funds are used to create and fill stockings. 100% of the same stays local to Clackamas County to help people in need. 100% of the work we do is completed by volunteers.
Description
in 1997 during the holidays, the Oregon City Chamber of Commerce began distributing stockings under the name of Fill a Stocking, Fill a Heart, along with food baskets made by the Will Falls Hospital Foundation. As word spread and the need grew, the organization applied for and received non-profit status in 2020. Our volunteers give many hours year-round, and in our hey-day, we provided up to 3,000 stockings per year to our partnering agencies. We lost our warehouse space about 4 years ago and currently providing 550+ stockings this year while we work out of a volunteer's garage and a dirt-floored unheated pole barn. FASFAH is an all-volunteer organization. There is no paid staff. Agencies we partner with include Father's Heart Street Ministry (homeless outreach), Clayton Mohn Commons (veterans' transitional housing), Parrott Creek Child and Family Services, Clackamas County Health Services.
