Mission Statement

Our mission: To provide assistance to Nevada County’s people with diabetes by helping them access medications and supplies, Certified Diabetes Educators and Nutritionists and other necessary support to enable them to live their healthiest lives.

Description

My name is Carolyn Maginot, the executive director and store manager of Sweet Life Thrift. Previously I’d worked at 2 other stores which ignited my passion to open my own store to help our county’s diabetic population, as it is a very underserved community. (And yes, I have type 1 diabetes.) Our store opened in March 2019 and since then we have developed a reputation of being a "boutique at thrift store prices." Currently we are primarily using our profits to subsidize low income/uninsured patient’s visits with a Nutritionist-Certified Diabetes Educator to provide one on one nutritional diabetes management, because food is medicine. We also pay for insulin, fingerstick blood testing supplies and anything else diabetes related.
