Carle is a level 1 Trama center that cares for the most critically ill and injured patients. The Carle Auxiliary was founded in 1959 by dedicated women who developed a diverse team of volunteers to offer comfort and helping hand in areas throughout the hospital. The Auxiliary, as well as Volunteer Services department work closely together towards giving volunteers a place to feel like they are making a difference in the lives of our patients, as well as being a friendly face for our patients who may be having the worst day of their lives. There are a variety of opportunities for adults, teens, and college students. Adults can volunteer through our Auxiliary, to create a better experience for our patients. Our student program is one of the largest in Illinois, utilizing 500 teen & college students per semester. There are opportunities to volunteer in person and virtually based on your preference and hospital needs.
