PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Compliance, reporting, and analysis Nonprofit ( small organization 1-10 members) | Emerging Organization | We need your financial expertise. Month-end Close & Analysis Responsible for accurate and timely Stand In Truth account set-up and implementation. Prepare competent data ledger input analysis that team members can systemically utilize for accurate ongoing organization accounting. Completion of month-end close, analysis, and reporting. Ensure financials are by GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Update procedures and related documentation to maintain and improve the month-end closing process. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries for general ledger accounts with supporting documentation. Responsible for accurate and timely completion of month-end close process, ensuring correct reporting of balance sheet and income statement by Generally Accepted Accounting Principles Complete bank, investment, and other balance sheet account reconciliations. Responsible for managing fixed assets sub-ledger and accounting for all fixed asset transactions, including acquisitions, transfers, cost center changes, balance sheet reconciliations, and capital project forecasting. Prepare sub-ledger entries and maintain other roll-forward reconciliation schedules: Donations and Gifts Investment & Future Endowment - Allocation of earnings and various reconciliations. Monitor accounts receivable, unclaimed checks, and other balance sheet accounts by following up with others as needed to minimize write-offs and year-end adjustments. Maintain allocation support, adjusting national support charges as needed. Finalize and issue monthly management reports, including receivables, balance sheets by location, endowment, and cash & investment reporting. Year-end Close, Audits, & Form 990 Responsible for organizing and completing year-end schedules, consolidation entries, and other required year-end activities accurately and promptly according to nonprofit state requirements for external auditors and internal reporting updates. Complete preliminary year-end close, analysis, and reporting for key stakeholders, including but not limited to SIT Board of Directors Committee and Philanthropist Update and communicate year-end tasks and timelines based on audit planning meetings. This includes the timely submission of year-end schedules and other support to auditors during audit fieldwork. Prepare final year-end adjustments, including consolidation entries and functional allocations. Complete other required audit and Form 990 schedules, including footnote disclosure updates. Review and reconcile audit and Form 990 schedules supplied by others. Reconcile final audited financial statements and Form 990 to G/L and management reporting. Update year-end procedures and related documentation and make improvements as needed. Financial Reporting Compile various financial reports, including the quarterly finance committee financial report, analyze data, and recommend appropriate actions to management. Monitor and evaluate current procedures to ensure maximum effectiveness. Conduct a variety of organizational and operational studies. Function as a liaison between Finance and key stakeholders. Lead quarterly campus finance meetings by developing and reporting on performance measurements, key performance indicators, and other financial and non-financial organizational performance and health indicators. Collaborate with cross-functional business leaders in preparing annual budgets, updated forecasts, and long-range plans, with a detailed focus on various operational and administrative functional areas. Perform variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior period by providing standard monthly reporting to key business leaders on a timely basis. Maintain data in budgeting software. Provide financial support for grant proposals, track time and purpose-restricted grants, and provide post-grant support and reporting for funders as needed. Manage cash control processes, revenue/expense reconciliations, & reporting of local events and provide training, support, and tracking tools for remote locations. Other Finance Activities Additional duties required to support the finance department. Maintain documentation of all financial policies and procedures, updating as needed to improve internal controls and address unique expansion needs. Orient new staff members who need to understand financial accounting and reporting. Become a subject matter expert on accounting (Intacct) and budgeting (Adaptive) software. Stand In Truth is an Emerging Non-Profit Organization: We aim to expose under-resourced high school youth to college and career certification opportunities. We expose youth to higher education and high-earning careers through tours, company site visits, positive youth development workshops, and college student leadership mentoring. We believe girls from under-resourced communities have an untapped source of strength, ideas, and potential. SIT intends to unearth this greatness by welcoming them to environments where they can build self-esteem, reimagine their futures, and become sustaining, productive citizens. RESPONSIBILITIES: Write and edit letters of inquiry, grant proposals and reports, program summaries, and other funding correspondence Build institutional funding base by researching/identifying new grant opportunities; inviting existing funders to increase funding for general operations and explore program-based support; and re-establishing relationships with lapsed funders. Work with program directors throughout the agency to develop program concepts, define objectives, and present program accomplishments. Assist with formulating program budgets, connecting funding lines to program narratives, verify funding streams per program area. Track institutional giving patterns and funding deadlines using Salesforce Nonprofit Pack. Collaborate with Executive Director and Board to communicate organizational and programmatic achievements and devise funding strategies. Engage clients, volunteers, and donors at specified Stand In Truth. events Train new development staff with procedures used in grant writing, including Salesforce Nonprofit Pack, proposal and grant paper, and budget preparation. Train new program staff members on grant processes Stay up to date on new research that can bolster proposals and reports Write and edit non-fundraising materials throughout the agency, as needed (e.g., promotional material, etc.) Other tasks as assigned Required Qualifications: One plus years of professional grant writing or professional editing/writing experience Outstanding writing and editing skills Strong interpersonal skills Must demonstrate creativity and passion in their writing Must have the ability to glean information from previous proposals to meet specific funder requirements Ability to work quickly and produce a polished piece of work requiring little editing Exceptional organizational and time management skills Professional experience in the nonprofit sector preferred Interest in the field of youth development, empowerment, and social services preferred Proficiency using Google Workspace, Salesforce Nonprofit Pack, preferred Working knowledge of donor database software preferred QUALIFICATIONS: Degree or Certificate in creative writing or related field. Knowledge in research and grant writing; nonprofit experience is a plus. Preferred but not required. Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors is preferred but not required. Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies. Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research. Detail-oriented and exceptionally organized. Clear, precise, and compelling writing skills. Motivated self-starter who can work independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment. High proficiency in all areas of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
