AgePRIDE - Healthy Generations has an exciting opportunity for a volunteer assistant to support the Legacy Letters program. This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to connect across generations and develop or deepen group facilitation skills and help spread the word about this incredible intergenerational program! Volunteer Reports to: Legacy Letters Program Coordinator Purpose of the Volunteer Role: To support the operations of the Legacy Letters program Volunteer Location: In-person at various sites in Seattle and the AgePRIDE office in the U-District Legacy Letters Program Description: Legacy Letters is a free, small facilitated program brining generations together to reduce social isolation and build community that so many people have been deeply missing due to the impacts of COVID-19. For six weeks, participants gather as a group for 90 minutes on a weekday afternoon. They are facilitated through incorporating their reflections from activities into the preparation of a Legacy Letter. Each 90-minute session of the 6-week program is an opportunity to witness themselves in community, create a life narrative, and share that narrative with others. We hope to honor each individual, their life, and their ability to build connections with others across generations. Everyone gets to choose how they want to participate, including what they share during program sessions. Opportunities Include: There are a number of ways a volunteer can support the Legacy Letters program. Below is a list of the types of activities a volunteer could expect to support: Outreach Getting the word out to communities across all generations Helping compile list of groups/organizations to reach for recruitment Giving presentations to friends, groups, and organizations about the program Posting flyers in key locations around the City for each program Co-facilitation The 6 week programs will be conducted at a variety of locations, including South East Seattle Senior Center, Esperanza House, and the AgePRIDE Healthy Generations Center Assist with room set-up and tear-down Assist with food coordination and distribution Help distribute materials during the class Assist with audio and visual recording of story presentations Fill in as participant or facilitator when needed Other opportunities as they arise Time Commitment: Up to 3-6 hours per week, or more depending on volunteer availability. A volunteer commitment of at least 6 months is preferred. Apply Now! at the link below, or email us at AgePrideCenter@uw.edu https://redcap.iths.org/surveys/?s=RPKR88RPHFFA9Y9F
