The Viola Blythe Center is a non-profit, nonsectarian corporation organized to promote, support and advocate social and human services to any person who is in immediate need. This mission is accomplished by a variety of programs, including emergency food and clothing distribution, referrals to other agencies, and special programs during the Holiday's.
The organization has been in existence for more than 70 years and annually helps between 8,000-10,000 people.
We are organized with a Board of Directors and one part-time paid Executive Director. We have a number of volunteers who help on a daily basis. In 2021 our volunteers served over 5,400 hours. We are a source for student volunteers to fulfill their school volunteer hour assignments.
We lease a warehouse at 7730 Enterprise Dr., Newark where we store food, meats and other supplies. Families visit our distribution center at 37365 Ash Street where we are open Monday - Wednesday from 11 - 2. Food, clothing and other supplies are available at the distribution center.
During the Holiday's we provide a full schedule of programs for our clients. This includes; Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Baskets, Adopt-a-Family Program, Food and Toy Drive Collection, Children's Christmas Party.
