To see all volunteer position descriptions and to apply for a volunteer position for this event, https://dav48sonoma.org/crab-feed-volunteers/ EVENT: 4th Annual Crab Feed Fundraiser -- Proceeds will provide free rides for eligible veterans to and from their VA-scheduled medical appointments using the DAV Volunteer Transportation Network. Volunteer Position: CLEAN-UP CREW Commitment Time: 6:30 pm to until done, Saturday, February 22, 2025 Description of Volunteer Duties: Checks in and out with the timekeeper - to receive and turn in volunteer identification. Works in a team environment with other volunteers. Interfaces with the event attendees courteously and professionally. Must wear a provided volunteer identification at all times during the event. Maintains good communication with their volunteer team. Monitors tables and reports to a supervisor when attendees violate guest policies, such as when guests fill containers to take food home, have brought in outside alcoholic drinks (wine and beer served at the event will be in a designated cup), or are burning candles. Picks up and throws away the trash, such as empty plates, utensils, napkins, and drink cups, and places trash in the appropriate receptacle. Makes sure trash goes into the correct receptacles and report to the supervisor when the trash is going into the wrong receptacles. Immediately cleans or reports slipping or tripping hazards such as spilled food and drinks from the floor. Assists with breaking down the event per instructions, such as folding tablecloths, boxing leftover event supplies and decorations, and helping to transport items to storage lockers located in the building or vehicles parked outside. Kitchen cleaning includes cleaning counters, stoves, cookware, cooking accessories, sweeping and mopping the kitchen floor. Kitchen mats must be cleaned using a hose. The outdoor patio adjacent to the kitchen must also be clean of debris and hosed down. Duties do NOT include: breaking down tables and chairs, cleaning the auditorium floor, or emptying trash receptacles (all of which are the responsibility of the Veterans Memorial Building employed staff). Volunteer Meals (Saturday 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM): Food will be available for volunteers only in the breakroom. Volunteers cannot eat in the auditorium unless they have paid for a dinner ticket (seat). Non-alcoholic drinks are available for free to all volunteers throughout the event. Volunteers are responsible for feeding themselves. Volunteer meals are available for volunteers working an entire Saturday shift or multiple Saturday shifts.

Volunteer Position: Happy Hour Room Attendant (opens at 3:30 PM) Commitment Time: 1:30 pm to 6:30 pm, Saturday, February 22, 2025 Description of Volunteer Duties: Checks in and out with the timekeeper - to receive and turn in volunteer identification. Works in a team environment with other volunteers. Interfaces with the event attendees courteously and professionally. Must wear a provided volunteer identification at all times during the event. Maintains good communication with their volunteer team. Personal Hygiene is clean. It includes bathing/showering on the event day, wearing clean clothes ("first time worn since washing"), keeping hair tied back, and wearing food-serving gloves. Proper Handwashing: Hand sanitizer cannot be used in place of handwashing. Hands must be washed for at least 20 seconds using warm water, soap, and rubbing all areas of fingers, back and front, and into wrist using a paper towel to dry. Must not dry hands on clothes. Hands must be washed after: using the restroom, coughing/sneezing/blowing nose, eating/drinking, touching garbage, touching hair/face/body, before putting on gloves, after touching dirty surfaces (e.g., equipment, work surfaces, towels). Single Use Gloves: Never rinse, wash or reuse gloves. Always wash hand before putting on gloves. Do not touch hair, face or clothes with gloves. Change gloves when they are torn, before beginning a different task. Friendly and approachable demeanor; familiarity with the event layout; and multi-tasking. Assists with setting up the Happy Hour Room. Monitors appetizers, replace empty dishes with new appetizer dishes, or refills them where and when appropriate. Presents as a warm, welcoming host for guests. Guides guests to appropriate areas and provides information (answers questions). Minimum age: 18 years old. Volunteer Meals (Saturday 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM): Food will be available for volunteers only in the breakroom. Volunteers cannot eat in the auditorium unless they have paid for a dinner ticket (seat). Volunteer Position: SECURITY GUARD Commitment Time: 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Saturday, February 22, 2025 Description of Volunteer Duties: Checks in and out with the timekeeper - to receive and turn in volunteer identification. Works in a team environment with other volunteers. Interfaces with the event attendees courteously and professionally. Must wear a provided volunteer identification at all times during the event. Maintains good communication with their volunteer team. Brings own cell phone to carry in case of event-related emergencies. Bring warm and/or weather-appropriate clothing for the evening hours. Rove the Veterans Memorial Building grounds (entire building, bathrooms, parking lot). Rove Veterans Memorial Building grounds 30 minutes before the event's start time and 30 minutes after its end time. Use only voice directions; no physical contact with anyone. Security guards may need to escort guests out of the venue or building. Security guards may need to call the Team Lead to call the Santa Rosa police. Must wear identifiable clothing that shows "security" or "security guard." Guards will be provided with reflective vests that can be worn over clothing. Security guards may need to inform guests that no outside alcohol is allowed. Security guards ensure the safety of the guests and, depending on the situation, report suspicious activity first to the Team Lead and may need to report to Veterans Memorial Building staff and Chapter 48 officers or call emergency services at the direction of the Team Lead. Direct emergency services (such as police or EMTs) to the appropriate location or area in case of emergencies. Applicants must sign a document with the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Building staff stating that they will be providing security for the building and the hours during which they will do so. This document must be signed and turned in several weeks before the event date. No security guard experience is required. Volunteer Meals (Saturday 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM): Food will be available for volunteers only in the breakroom. Volunteers cannot eat in the auditorium unless they have paid for a dinner ticket (seat). Volunteer Position: VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR Commitment Time: 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm, Saturday, February 22, 2025 Description of Volunteer Duties: Checks in and out with one of the other department leads/officers. Works in a team environment with other volunteers. Interfaces with the event attendees courteously and professionally. Must wear a provided volunteer identification at all times during the event. Maintains good communication with their volunteer team. Directs, manages, and assists with coordinating volunteers. Is willing to learn the other volunteer position duties. Works in coordination with the volunteer breakroom attendant for time-keeping of volunteers who need to record their hours, and generally knows when volunteers arrive and leave through the use of a sign-in/out sheet in the volunteer breakroom. Turns in time-keeping records to the Adjutant. Is able to communicate with the volunteer breakroom attendant and -other team leads via text or phone. Coordinates with the volunteer breakroom attendant to orient volunteers to the volunteer breakroom, volunteer stations and positions, can direct volunteer floaters to needed positions, etc. Makes rounds and monitors volunteers during the event to ensure volunteers have what they need, ensure positions remain filled, and may need to temporarily fill in a position or find someone who can fill in for a volunteer, such as for bathroom breaks or emergencies. The Volunteer Coordinator is the communication hub (go-between) between volunteers, Veterans Memorial Building Staff, and DAV officers/members who are running the event. Volunteer Coordinators help other volunteers, special guests, and attendees with answering questions and/or directing people to the appropriate person who can answer questions/concerns. The Volunteer Coordinator will be introduced to key contact point persons at the event, including names with phone numbers will be provided. Can provide directions and instructions to and make requests of other volunteers. Can multi-task. Volunteer Position: VOLUNTEER BREAK-ROOM ATTENDANT HELPER Commitment Time: 1:00 pm to 8:30 pm, Saturday, February 22, 2025 Description of Volunteer Duties: Checks in and out with the timekeeper. Works in a team environment with other volunteers. Interfaces with the event attendees courteously and professionally. Must wear a provided volunteer identification at all times during the event. Maintains good communication with their volunteer team. Will be stationed in the volunteer break-room. Team lead delegates to helper attendants. Is responsible for managing and maintaining the volunteer break-room. Must have a designated volunteer cover their position when leaving the room. This room cannot be left unattended. Controls the volunteer sign-in sheets and volunteer identification markers (badges, wristbands), which can only be distributed by a designated volunteer. An attendant must be posted at the door. Only allows authorized staff and volunteers access to the breakroom. Is able to call an event security guard when needed. Assists with setting up and breaking down the breakroom, which includes assisting with moving food trays (via carts) from the kitchen to the breakroom. All serving carts must be brought back to the kitchen because the servers will need the carts for dinner. Instructs other volunteers how to obtain their meals. Maintains a stock of eating utensils, food and drinks in the breakroom. Follows basic food safety and sanitation practices (e.g., personal hygiene, handwashing, food serving gloves): Review training material at https://dav48sonoma.org/crab-feed-volunteers/ [click on links] Serves as one of the Time-Keepers and turns in the time-keeping records at the end of the event to one of the Chapter officers (preferably the adjutant). Orients newly arriving volunteers to sign-in/out, location of restrooms and where to go to meet up with their volunteer teams, team leads, and stations (instruction only). A map of the building will be provided. Can provide directions and instructions to and make requests of other volunteers. Can assist volunteers with questions and concerns they may have. The lead serves as one of the communication contact points. Team leads can communicate two-way via text or phone with the breakroom attendant and assist with volunteer coordination. Keeps the break room clean and assists with cleaning the room at the end of the event. Cleaning the room consists of returning food trays to the kitchen, throwing away trash in the garbage can, wiping down tables, boxing left-over supplies to move to a nearby storage locker, and gathering paper documents to return to Chapter 48 officers.
