Description
Mount St. Joseph is a non-profit Intermediate Care Facility for women with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The agency is run by the Daughters of St. Mary of Providence, an international congregation who live out the mission and spirit of their founder Saint Louis Guanella. They established Mount St. Joseph in 1935 by acquiring 80 acres of farm land on Rt. 12 in Lake Zurich, IL, after which, three Sisters and six women with special needs moved from their facility in Chicago to take up residence in a farmhouse on the property. From these humble beginnings, Mount St. Joseph has grown to include 160 acres with a residential facility that is equipped to serve up to 130 women and a Day Program that serves more than 50 male and female adults. The Sisters, who have accepted responsibility for the day to day administrative tasks, work in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to provide exemplary care to each individual and promote their dignity and rights, while encouraging them to reach their fullest potential.
