Do you enjoy problem-solving and working with numbers? Do you like helping others? You don’t need to be an expert at math! Mentor a teenager or an adult learner in basic, everyday math and help them improve their skills, gain confidence, and reach their goals. Math topics to cover range from whole numbers and basic arithmetic to practical applications such as applying for loans, FASFA, ratios and percentages, simple algebra and geometry, students gain the knowledge and skills needed for everyday life, employment and further education. If you interested in supporting a student to improve their basic math skills, we would love to hear from you. Please note that we require background screening. Tutoring sessions will be virtual (30 min to 60 min). Training and support is provided. Money Matters 101 is a non-profit organization that partners with community agencies and educators to provide workshops, training and handbooks that covers college and financial planning for teenagers. We work with community agencies by providing basic financial literacy programs as teens prepare for college or enter the work force. Tutoring Training, support, and learning materials are provided. Money Matters 101 is affiliated with the Stamford Public Education (SPEF). Money Matters 101 also partners with the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford, local banks and businesses. The Marketing Assistant Volunteer provides marketing support to the marketing team members. Key responsibilities include: Develop and coordinate effective advertising campaigns. Track, submit, and archive all marketing collateral and press coverage Identify new companies and build contact lists via networking tools, as well as manage existing contact lists. The Administrative Assistant Volunteer provides administrative and record keeping support for the daily activities of the programs, the Board of Directors, and various committees. The Administrative Assistant Volunteer will interact with individuals associated with the organization and will update donor, sponsor, client, and volunteer records; prepare reports, correspondence, event fliers, and other documents as needed. The Administrative Assistant Volunteer may participate in community outreach programs such as workshops, training or special events as time permit. Our mission is to partner with community agencies and educators to introduce financial education to the underprivileged teenagers. The Finance Assistant Volunteer provides support to our bookkeepers. Key duties include: Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process for up to 10 company clients, including but not limited to purchases, bills, invoices, receipts and payments Calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records Bring the books to the trial balance stage Work closely with our accounting team to support the creation of accurate financial reports Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct ledger Translate accounting updates into useful information for our customer’s financial team. Implements accounting updates based on our financial team’s feedback (the accounting function is independent of the finance team.
