To restore hope and self-esteem to foster children as well as abused and neglected children of King County, helping them reach their potential as stable, self-supporting community members.
Treehouse programs provide for the needs of children who have suffered abuse and neglect and are under the care of the state child protection system in King County. There are now more than 15,000 affected children. Treehouse programs continue to expand to meet their needs. Hundreds of children each month receive the clothing, books, shoes, toys, car seats, and bikes they need here in our Wearhouse. More than 100 children each month take music lessons, tae kwon do classes, and school field trips, and attend the junior prom. In summer, over 500 students go to summer camps to develop new skills and have fun. The Treehouse Tutoring Program, a successful intervention for children whose education has been disrupted by abuse and neglect, will expand into Middle School and add more elementary school sites. Graduate students in Social Work and Counseling programs intern as Eduational Advocates and work along side social workers to advocate for unmet educational needs for public school children.
