As with the animal sheltering field at large, Baypath has evolved tremendously since its founding over 40 years ago. 2012 was a key transitional time for the organization, as a new Board President, Executive Director and Shelter Manager began working to advance our approach to sheltering. With a drive to transform Baypath into an animal welfare leader, the new leadership team committed the organization to providing the most humane, compassionate care possible in a sustainable way.

It is through this lens that Baypath has set out to enact changes that will have a profound impact on virtually every aspect of the operation. The opportunity to secure land and build a large, new, modern shelter is central to this vision. For the new facility, we envision a state-of-the-art community center offering a broad set of services including: stress-free isolation and evaluation spaces for both dogs and cats; private adoption and rehoming consultation rooms, in-house dog training, community pet food pantry and a dedicated medical suite.
