Description
Since 1971, HomeCare & Hospice has offered a variety of services to patients and clients in their homes or places of residence in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Genesee and Wyoming counties in Western New York state, as well as portions of neighboring counties.
We have been helping families maintain independence at home, with compassion, in communities throughout Western New York since 1971.
Our hospice program provides medical care and emotional support for patients and their families coping with a terminal illness. The focus is on quality of life.
We have different types of Volunteers, that each offer a different type of support to Hospice:
- Patient Volunteers
- Bereavement Volunteers
- Office Volunteers
- Event Volunteers
A Patient Volunteer is an important asset as a listener, someone to talk and reminisce with, and to provide companionship and support to patients and their families. Patient Volunteers can also provide support to the patient or patient’s caregivers.
- Some examples of what Patient Volunteers do is having conversation with patient and/or caregiver, review life experiences, reading, puzzles, bedside art or music, performing light chores, sitting with the Patient while Caregiver runs errands or take a break, or running errands for the Patient and/or Caregiver.
