Mission Statement

Yuba Watershed Protection and Fire Safe Council facilitates collaboration throughout the Yuba County foothills to proactively build watershed and community resilience to wildfire by educating and empowering residents, implementing community-level mitigation projects, and supporting the integrity of our natural resources.

Description

Established in 1998 and a 501(c)3 since 2020, Yuba Watershed Protection and Fire Safe Council (YWPFSC) convenes local forestry and fire professionals, agencies and community members to promote wildfire preparedness and forest health in Yuba County. Our primary focus is wildfire risk reduction in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) and the wider forest landscape, through community outreach, collaboration, and implementation. YWPFSC currently employs one part-time Executive Director and benefits from the efforts of 2-5 volunteers. YWPFSC hosts a wide array of wildfire mitigation programs and organizes monthly stakeholder meetings to build collaborative planning efforts and support community resilience to wildfire.
