Lions are on a mission to provide the children of Central Texas the opportunity to have the vision they deserve for life and learning! The Central Texas Lions KidSight Vision Foundation was formed to expand and grow the Early Childhood Vision Screening program with the goal to reach the over 150,000 children under the age of 6 in our area who could benefit by having their vision screened to prevent permanent vision loss in one or both eyes.
KidSight is part of a nationwide initiative of the Lions Clubs to help parents, childcare providers and educators find and correct children's vision problems. Since 2012, over 10,000 children have been screened for vision issues. Our first and primary priority is to increase the number of children screened in the 6 month to 5 year old age group, and then expand our services through high school as requested by private and public school districts. We do this for free. We raise money in various ways, but a primary method is through track and field meets. We put on the meets and a high percentage of the proceeds goes to KidSight.
