This is a great opportunity to work with our community. There are so many hospice patients who really need and want support from you. They desire companionship, maybe reading quietly at their bedside or listening to music they like, playing games, doing arts and crafts, presenting them with virtual reality or recording a StoryCorp moment for them and their family and loved ones to listen to. These interviews are preserved at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. We can even train you for Veteran events. You do not need ot have previous military experience, you can be a civilian. We just want to support our patients so they can live the rest of their life having that opportunity to be social with others and providing much needed emotional support. We will train you to succeed in volunteering before you are with a patient.

Caregiver burn out is a real thing. Sadly, it happens to everyone, even loved ones. With hospice volunteer services, we have opportunities where you can provide much needed respite care for a caregiver while they go out for a breath of fresh air, take a nap, go out to eat with friends, and more. Duration of stay will be approximately 2 hours once a week or biweekly. We are open to most schedules you can suggest as well. Please reach out and be the help someone needs today.

Come visit with a patient today. Talk and reminesce, hold a hand or be there for someone to share their story. People benefit from socializatiion, and having someone to spend time with not only helps their emotional well being, but can help them physically as well. Play games or read to the patient. Life Journaling is a great way to learn more about the patient and you can give them the finished project for themselves or for their family, whichever the patient prefers. Join our Veteran programs and reach out to Veterans by handing out certificates, medals and helping to organize Honor Ceremonies. Take this opportunity to reach out and become that special person to a hospice patient today.
