At Proactive Families Advocacy Inc, our mission is to provide wrap-around services that are family-centered and culturally competent to families who are currently involved or at risk of involvement with the child welfare system. We seek to prevent the need for foster care placement, reduce the number of children in foster care, and keep families together whenever possible.
Year founded is in 2022. Our organization came to be by a discussion between two former individuals with involvement with the child welfare system; discussing the lack of knowledge of resources and availability within our community. The gap we formed to solve and address is the issues that challenge the capacity of the child welfare system and its staff to provide adequate services to the families and children it serves; offering direction to resources to be preventive to families at risk for child welfare involvement and to assist those who've already had involvement with the child welfare, peer supporting parents through the court process and action plans. The ultimate goals as a unbiased party for all parties involved is to keep families together, reducing out-of-home placements, and seeking reunification which is in the best interest of the family. One evolution we have is when we started as a social media support group and evolved into a tax exempt 501(c)(3) and continuing to grow
