Mission Statement

Ayada Leads is a Twin Cities-based non-profit organization that inspires African Diaspora women to participate meaningfully in the political & civic life. We want to achieve a fairer society & electoral environment that is unbiased to female candidates. We envision a world where African diaspora women and girls feel valued, safe, and prepared to achieve their academic, professional, and leadership dreams.

Description

Ayada Leads has launched a variety of programs with the aim of empowerment. We offer political campaign trainings for BIPOC women that are interested in running for office. Past alumni include Ilhan Omar and Nadia Mohamed. We also have two cohorts yearly of our Future Leaders in the Making program, a mentorship program that strives to build confidence in younger girls as the embark through a very pivotal time of life. Throughout the year we host events, and participate in community outreach in order to continuously advance the interests of African women. We would like to expand Ayada Leads to all of Minnesota and reach black women that may not have support.
