Inpatient Therapy Recreational Volunteer Volunteer Department: Inpatient Therapy (2 nd floor) General Summary: The Inpatient Therapy Recreational volunteer assists by following a program established by therapists to provide to our patients on the weekend. This program is to provide opportunity for entertainment to our inpatient rehabilitation clients. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Transport Patients to/from activity-based program. Provide Activities as planned/directed by therapists. Movie Time Activity - Get TV Monitor Cart from Classroom A & B. Bring to movie viewing area. Arrange patients for optimal viewing pleasure. Start movie. Make popcorn and provide drinks. Water, coffee, tea, pop. After movie, return patients to their rooms, clean up viewing area, take TV Monitor back to Classroom A & B. Sanitize the treatment equipment and treatment area using specific cleaners. Sanitizing equipment before storing, including wheels on wheelchairs. Assist with staff when they have a cooking group in the kitchen area. Socialize with patients. Offer to help them write notes or cards to family members (supply of cards should be available), play cards, read from a current newspaper or just step into the room to ask how they are doing. Try to visit. Often just asking about their families will get them talking. Hours of Service: Weekday evenings, Saturday and/or Sunday; variable pending activity decided. Length of Shift: 2-4 hours - Variable pending activity. Skills Required to Perform the Assignment: Friendly attitude, able to communicate effectively with patients and guests. Physical Demands: Requires walking and bending. Requires ability to push a wheelchair and complete safe gait/transfers with patients of appropriate ability (after training). Volunteer Department: Inpatient Therapy (2 nd floor) General Summary: Assist with basic tasks so that nurses and therapists will have more time to spend with the patients. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Answer patient call-lights. Assist patient, i.e. reaching call light or television remote, phone, etc. If it’s a patient care need, relay what the patient needs to the nursing staff. Sanitize the treatment equipment and treatment area using specific cleaners. Sanitizing equipment before storing, including wheels on wheelchairs. Socialize with patients. Offer to help them write notes or cards to family members (supply of cards should be available), play cards, read from a current newspaper or just step into the room to ask how they are doing. Try to visit. Often just asking about their families will get them talking. "Straighten up" and organize patient’s room belongings on counter area, bedside table, etc. Ask patients/nurses if any patient laundry needs to be done. "Straighten up" and dust counters in the therapists’ office. Book Cart - Offer magazines. Tote Bags & Lap Robes - Offer to patients. Hours of Service: There is one shift per day from 10 am to 2 pm. This is variable depending on number of patients and needs. Length of Shift: 2 to 4 hours Skills Required to Perform the Assignment: Friendly attitude, able to communicate effectively with patients and guests, able to maintain records (recording temperatures.) Physical Demands: Requires walking and bending. Requires ability to push a wheelchair.

Volunteer Department: The Park Bench Gift Shop General Summary: Gift Shop volunteers work primarily with hospital volunteers, visitors and employees. They act as sales assistant and cashier for individuals wishing to purchase items from the Park Bench Gift Shop. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Open the shop each morning (1 st shift) and close each evening (last shift) Assist customers in the shop and operate the cash register, adding machine, and credit card reader. Prepare a daily sales report at the end of each day. Assist customers with lay-away purchases and payroll deductions. Attend periodic meetings of the gift shop committee Keep shop looking neat and shelves dusted. Follow Covid Infection Prevention protocols. Works with the staff to provide a safe and compassionate environment for patients and their families. Hours of Service: AM shift: 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. PM shift:12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Length of Shift: Approximately 3 ½ hours. May need to stay later to close. Skills Required to Perform the Assignment: Telephone etiquette skills, mathematical skills, pleasant personality, able to promote sales of products. Physical Demands: Requires standing and walking around the shop and dusting. Reports to: Gift Shop Chairperson Lunch provided.

Volunteers at the front desk provide a welcoming environment to patients and visitors as they enter the hospital. The Information Desk volunteer directs patients so they may quickly locate the necessary services and assists visitors to locate family and friends or meeting areas. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Greet all patients and visitors and offer assistance whenever possible. Direct patients to registration or the self-registration portal. Track patient interactions. Follow Covid-19 protocols. After 2:00 PM, pick up patient mail in Mailroom and deliver it to patients’ rooms. Return undeliverable mail to the registration desk to be mailed to patient's home address. Deliver flowers or balloons to patient’s room when they are delivered. Answer occasional phone calls that come into the Information Desk. When someone wants to pay a bill, direct them to the registration. When a patient or guest need directions, walk them to the general area and point them in the proper direction. When a guest asks about a patient who is not on the patient census list, call the registration to inquire. Free lunch for each 4-hour shift worked. Hours of Service: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 12:00 noon 12:00 noon - 4:30 pm Volunteers are expected to cover their entire shift. Length of Shift: 4 hours Skills Required to Perform the Assignment: Cheerfulness, politeness, good etiquette when dealing with people, reliable. Physical Demands: Job requires some walking, and ability to push a wheelchair. Reports to: Information Desk Chairperson

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES AM SHIFT ONLY: First thing in the morning, take and record temperatures in refrigerator and freezer (log on top of refrigerator) and the Hydrocollator. Stock all cabinets and rolling storage cart in the gym. Change pillowcases after each use. Using gloves and supplied cleaning wipes or spray: Straighten and clean treatment rooms and tables in the gym after each use. Clean any equipment used including balls and mats, including cold packs before putting back in freezer. When needed, replace or refill gel bottles. Apply pink expiration label recording date one (1) year from the date you open. Waiting room: Wipe down chair arms and door handles in waiting room area. Straighten magazines (toss torn ones). Children rooms: Clean all surfaces such as mats and any toys used should be placed in tubs marked 'toys to be cleaned’. Wipe all toys with Clorox or Oxivir wipes. MISC: Check all rooms for adequate glove supply, Kleenex supply. Check for cups by the water dispenser in the gym. Check paper in office copier and printer - fill if necessary. You may be asked to change Purell or Provon dispensers. (Lori can show you where they are stored and how to change them.)
