Mission Statement
To discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.
Description
Our Vision: Create a world without ALS.
+ Every 90 minutes, someone is diagnosed with the disease, and someone passes away from ALS.
+ The ALS Association is working to make ALS a livable disease while urgently searching for new treatments and a cure.
+ ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. There is currently no cure for the disease.
+ ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries. The disease can affect anyone.
+ Military veterans are approximately twice as likely to develop ALS.
+ Once ALS starts, it almost always progresses, eventually taking away the ability to walk, dress, write, speak, swallow, and breathe, and shortening the life span.
+Currently, there is no cure for ALS.
